Now you can turn My Coke Rewards points into rewards for our school:

Oak Grove Elementary School has joined My Coke Rewards for Schools.  We want the best for our children, and know that education plays a major role in shaping their lives. That’s why our school has registered for The My Coke Rewards for Schools program. Now by drinking the products that you and your family enjoy every day, you can donate points to provide Oak Grove Elementary school with the resources we need. Help support our students.  In order to give our students the biggest benefit, we need your help. Parents, friends and others in the community can support us by signing up for My Coke Rewards® and donating their points to our school — providing playground equipment, art supplies, sports gear, educational resources and much more. Get started at: http//:www. mycokerewards.com/schools. Click here to download a flyer for posting.

A message from the Sally Foster Gift Wrap Sale Chairpersons:

The school year has only just begun, but your PTA has been working over the summer on programs and committees with your children's benefit in mind. PTA funding adds cultural programs, teacher training, and various computer, art and music supplies to the elementary experience. Additionally, the PTA offers monetary assistance for faculty support and services to students and families as well as new items to the physical campus. In order to keep forward momentum for our school, the PTA gets an early jump on fundraising activities. Each year, the PTA participates in the Sally Foster Sale during which students are encouraged to sell gift wrap and other gift items. Half of all children's sales will be kept by the PTA and used to support our school. This year the fundraising goal is set at a net gain of $16,000. The Sally Foster Sale will be the largest fundraising effort for the 2008-2009 school year. Your help is necessary to reach our goals, and your efforts are appreciated.

To get started, your child can use the catalog that came home on the first day of school, or you can register your child online at www.sallyfoster.com. Other simple ways to raise funds that may be part of your daily routine include:

Crescent Moon Restaurant - Visit Crescent Moon (Northlake Location) on the third Tuesday of every month.  Mention Oak Grove and Crescent Moon will take 10% off every check and donate an additional 10% of food sales to our school.  Click here for more information.

Kroger and Publix Commitment Cards - These grocers have pledged to donate a percentage of every dollar spent by you to our school.  Just remember to show the cashier your commitment card.  Additional Kroger cards may be found on the table near the office.

Target's Fundraising Made Simple Program - Use your target charge card and designate Oak Grove as your school of choice. Target gives schools 1% of every dollar charged.  If you have a Target card call 1-800-316-6142 to designate Oak Grove.

North DeKalb Mall's "Cash 4 School" Program - North DeKalb Mall has a "Cash 4 School" Program that awards cash to schools based on how much the students and their families spend in the mall.  Oak Grove Elementary will participate this year and we have an excellent chance of earning a few hundred dollars.  The total amount available could reach $5,000 this school year, so it is worth the effort.  Here is how it works:

  • Make a purchase at any North DeKalb Mall store, restaurant, theater or kiosk.
  • Bring your receipt to the Mall Customer Service Center
  • Ask for your receipts to be validated for the school of your choice (hint: Oak Grove) and points will be logged for Oak Grove
  • Receipts can be validated until the 15th of the following month of issue date
  • Award dollars will be presented to the top spending schools

Please keep this in mind on your shopping trips and remember at North DeKalb Mall, you can spend for your school.

Fundraising Information

Growth, Excitement, and Learning are all words to describe this school year.  In this spirit, the Oak Grove PTA has several ongoing projects and committees that work to greatly enhance each student's elementary experience.  These include cultural programs, Accelerated Reader, teacher training and various computer, art and music supplies.  Additionally, the PTA offers monetary assistance for faculty support, services to students and families, as well as new items to the physical campus.  With the planned construction of several new classrooms and a new media center, we are anticipating substantial equipment needs for the next school year.  In order to continue offering these programs and services, the PTA is facilitating a variety of fundraising activities, which offer many ways for each family to get involved.  Please consider the following list to determine what is right for your family.

  • Sally Foster Gift Wrap - 50% of all children's sales will be sent to the PTA and used to support our school.  The fall event was a huge success and your efforts are appreciated.
  • Voluntary Donations - Thank you for any generous donations made by your family at registration.  Please be reminded that family and friend donations can be made any time throughout the year.
  • Book Fair - Oak Grove hosts a Book Fair twice a year.  Proceeds from the sales will be received either as direct dollars or as credit for new books for our media center.
  • School Pictures - 50% of the processing from your children's school pictures are given back to the Oak Grove community.
